The Ever-Natural Story
With sustainability at the heart of everything we do at EMU Australia, using sustainable, recyclable, biodegradable and premium materials is essential to our craftsmanship.
From the start, our mission has been to harness environmentally conscious materials such as premium Australian sheepskin, Australian Merino wool, natural cotton and sustainable leather well-known for their incredible qualities and durability. Accredited by the Woolmark Company, the wool used for all of our sheepskin products has been meticulously picked from Australian farmers to ensure we stay committed to delivering durable products made from natural and biodegradable materials. As well as using sustainable materials, our tanning process on our sheepskin products is eco-friendly, which means it’s gentler for the environment and humans. Using an eco-tan method also ensures 30% less water waste than traditional tanning methods.
Our consistent focus on sustainable practices and innovation aims to lead the shift in encouraging conscious consumption by creating durable, comfortable and sustainable collections. By designing timeless styles with durable and sustainable materials, our product longevity is enhanced which ultimately means, making conscious buying choices by choosing quality boots and slippers that will last more than one season.
A Collection Handmade in Australia
A key part of our heritage and commitment to natural craftsmanship is our Platinum Collection, which has been meticulously handcrafted at our workshop in Geelong, just minutes from Australia’s iconic Great Ocean Road, for over 30 years. Established out of Jackson’s Tannery, which began in 1948, EMU started with a simple idea, and probably the best - that nature is the best inventor and we're just following her lead.
Originally designed as a post-surf necessity, our natural Australian sheepskin boots have evolved into a stylish fashion staple, perfect for any occasion and any place. With styles for men, women, and kids, each pair goes through the hands of over 15 skilled artisans to be cut, moulded, folded, stitched, and trimmed. Our Platinum boots also feature a removable and replaceable insole, extending the life of each pair.
These timeless designs, combined with our commitment to sustainability, ensure that each pair is long-lasting, environmentally friendly, and stylish without compromise.
