We are very proud to announce that EMU Australia has won The Best Sustainable Accessory Brand (Footwear) Award in the fashion category as part of the Marie Claire Sustainability Awards 2022!
The award was judged by 26 people, including some of the most high-profile sustainability experts, business founders, thought leaders and activists in the industry.
Sustainability has been at the core of EMU Australia since the very beginning. Our focus has always been on using the very best, natural materials that Mother Nature provides us with, which, unlike man-made fibres, are recyclable, reusable and biodegradable.
We started with the simple idea that nature is the best inventor, and we're just following her lead.
The wool, leather, cotton and Australian sheepskin used in our products all year round are world-renowned for their super-natural qualities, including next-to-skin softness, as well as being renewable, biodegradable and 100% natural.
Wool fibres biodegrade in just 6 months, unlike synthetic fibres which can take up to 40 years to biodegrade.
Our premium wool has been accredited by AWI (Australian Wool Innovation) and we work very closely with The Woolmark Company to ensure we remain committed to high ethical standards and use premium materials sourced by from ethical Australian farmers.
We also use an eco-tan process on our sheepskin products meaning there's no harm made to the environment or humans, and there is 30% less water waste than traditional tanning methods.
An important part of our heritage and ever natural story is our Platinum Collection, which continues to be handcrafted at our workshop in Geelong, just minutes away from the Great Ocean Road in Australia.
Having started as a post-surf essential, our natural Australian sheepskin boots are now a trending fashion accessory and can be worn anywhere and everywhere.
